This has always puzzled me. Why do people just believe things that are told to them without doing research? I remember as a child, when first "introduced" to this thing called god/jesus/holy ghost. I remember asking questions such as, "How come I can't see god?" or "Is he bigger than a mountain?" Those and a flurry of other questions were never answered for me, yet for some reason I believed in god. I even have god children that I baptized in church. Oh, to be blind again.
Lately, I've been noticing a saturation of religious dogma in everything from Television shows, to Politics.. It is everywhere. Now, my personal reason for writing this blog is because all day long all I hear and see is religious rantings and postings such as,"Give yourself to Jesus." and "The Lord this.. blah blah blah." You get the picture. Now my thing is that the religious nutjobs could go on and on, day after day, night after night, preaching this nonsense, even to those that don't want to hear it. I have religious friends that, even they, are tired of the preaching about god/jesus/holy ghost. They believe that if you want to practice, ok, just don't force it down other peoples throats. Of course, some religious folks don't take heed to that. Yet, if I, an Atheist, post or comment or even speak about the crimes of religion, the bigotry in the bible and the hatred that it's followers hold, I am considered evil and full of hatred. When I point out the contradictions in the bible, they can't see them, for some reason. No wait, I know why they can't see it. Blindness. Me hateful? For exposing the lies of religion? I laugh at the notion. They are furious at me for exposing the lies of their religion, yet are not furious at the priests who molest children. They are not furious at the heads of ministry that simply remove the pedophiles from one place of worship to another so that they are able to commit the abuses some more. No outrage there. None at all. Which leads me to write about the Season of the Axial Tilt. This celebration originated many many years before Christianity. It's traditions are barred in the bible by god himself. Yet, when you tell the christians this truth, they condemn you. When you say, "Season's Greetings" instead of "Merry Christmas", you are taking Jesus out of Christmas. This way of thinking makes me laugh so hard, that boogers pop out of my nose. I then take them to task. I ask them, "Where did Christmas originate?" I love it when they spew that line about the birth of Jesus. Shows me that they have no clue as to what they are celebrating. Shows me that they are just blindly following others that are just as blind as them.
My mission is to awaken the sleeping sheep. At least that's my self appointed mission. If I could awaken and free the mind of just one soul, if I could free an oppressed mind...then my job here is done. I'm tired being called names and being told that I will go to hell. My response to those is, "God is your boss, The bible is your rules and Hell is yours for the taking... You go to hell and have a nice day!"
